Kakampi, meaning “teammate” in Filipino, this project hopes to make everyone a teamplayer for Filipino children & future generations of our nation by forming a coalition of young people, individuals, non-profit organizations, the private sector, and government agencies across the country to craft optimistic solutions to this demoralizing reality.
We believe in the power of unity to bring salvation to our people. Since 2015 we have been advocating strongly for the rights of a child and have realized the severity of the issue of OSAEC. But being such a heavy topic and a taboo to discuss, its victims and survivors are always left in the dark. We hope to shed light on this issue through digestible media, campaign collaterals, activations, and partnerships in order to holistically approach this issue with the most creative solutions possible. The goal is to establish a clear relationship between the reality of abuse and exploitation to everyday necessities we do not realize contribute to the problem, such as the lack of Food Security and Education. This issue has been prevalent in our country for reasons so innocent it’s almost impossible to fathom; Children that can speak english, easy access to the internet, poverty and the need to put food on the table or go to school. Issues that should never be reasons to abuse, neglect and exploit children and their rights. Over the lockdown there was a 260% increase of Online Sexual Abuse & Exploitation of Children (OSAEC). With families at home and parents raising insufficient income to sustain their families, one source of earning quick money would be through the sexual exploitation of children. According to the National Baseline Survey on Violence Against Children conducted in 2015, one in two children are victims of violence online. Among others, the easy accessibility to the internet, technological illiteracy, and widespread use of money remittances all pose a threat and increase the likelihood of children’s exposure to OSAEC. With our organization founded upon leaving no child behind, we began our journey towards raising awareness on a topic which is a taboo within the Filipino community.
